While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest,
and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
Genesis 8 v 22
When we think of God's promise to Noah we often think of
the Rainbow which is described in Genesis 9 through which God promises never
to flood the world again. However on closer inspection God's promise to Noah
goes further than that as this verse suggests.
Amid all the talk of 'climate change' and 'global
warning' it is reassuring to know that God is in control and until that time
of future judgement when there will be a new heaven and a new earth we will
continue to enjoy seedtime and harvest, summer and winter and day and night.
We do however need to be ready for that future judgement,
the Lord Jesus made it possible for us to escape that judgement by dying on
a cross at Calvary. We need to accept for ourselves the sacrifice he made
and simply place our faith and trust in Him accepting that the Lord Jesus
suffered and died for us and as sinners ask for His salvation.
How wonderful it is to know that the benefits are
endless; but to know forgiveness from sins, eternal life, peace with God is
a such a reassurance and gives such confidence in the beginning of God's
grace which we can experience here on earth.
