For over a hundred years the Assembly Hall in East Road has been a meeting place for Christians who have gathered there in accordance with God’s word, the Bible. We believe among other things that:
The Bible teaches that no one is born a Christian but that every one of us is born a sinner. In the book of Romans we read: ‘All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God’. Romans 3v23 In other words we have not met God’s standard of perfection and therefore need to have our sin dealt with before we can ever reach Heaven. Again, in the book of Romans we read: ‘The wages of sin is death, but the
gift of God is eternal life through This sounds as if we have very little opportunity of reaching heaven, but God in his goodness has provided a way for us to escape the punishment for our sins, through the Lord Jesus, God’s Son. God sent His Son into this world for a purpose. Although He did such wonderful things that we read of in the Bible, the main purpose He came was to bear the punishment for our sins on the cross at Calvary. There He was nailed to a cross and suffered awful things at the hands of Roman soldiers. Above all He bore God’s punishment for sins for us. He had to die to provide a way for us to have our sins forgiven. He was buried and He rose again after three days. He is now in heaven preparing a place for those who love and trust Him. '....how that Christ died for our
sins according to the scriptures: And that he was buried, For you to come into the good of these things you first need to realise that you have sinned and to believe that the Lord Jesus suffered and died at Calvary to make it possible for you to have yuor sins forgiven. Jesus saith unto him, "I am the way,
the truth and the life: no man cometh The Christians that meet at the Assembly Hall have acknowledged their sin before God and put their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ repenting of our sins and giving our lives to him. We now seek to live for him in the way that God has outlined in His Word the Bible. We also have a responsibility to let others know of God's great love for men, women, boys and girls and how he longs for them to love and trust him as we have described above. We have a number of activities that take place regularly in the Assembly Hall to give people the opportunity to listen to what God has to say through the Bible, the details of these can be found on our 'Notice Board' page.
